Deed Transfer

The Conveyance Department is in charge of processing all changes in ownership in the county and collecting fees and taxes on this activity. They maintain ownership records, acreage changes, real estate splits, and provide information for maintaining tax plat maps. 

Conveyance Standards

As required by Ohio Revised Code section 319.203, the Auditor cannot transfer any conveyance that does comply with the Conveyance Standards adopted by the Auditor and the Engineer.


The real estate conveyance fee is $.30 cents per hundred dollars ($3 per thousand dollars) of the sale price. Because the fee is based upon each $100 of sale price or fraction thereof, all sale prices must be rounded up to the next $100.

Fees are expected at the time the documents are presented for transfer. Fees are accepted by cash or check only. Checks should be made payable to the Butler County Auditor. Please do not include payment to other offices in the check to the Auditor. 

All checks presented must be accurate. The office is not able to provide change. Customers can personally add money to a check amount either in cash or an additional check if the original check provided is for an amount lower than the amount due. The Auditor will not accept blank checks to be filled in by Auditor staff.
