Auditor Presents $13,000 to Animal Friends

Thanks to Butler County dog owners and the Auditor’s partnership with DocuPet,
additional funds have been allocated to the Animal Friends Humane Society, the county’s animal shelter.

Animal FriendsOn Wednesday, Auditor Nancy Nix happily presented a check for $13,073.62 to Intake Coordinator
Megan Poffenbarger of Animal Friends. The donation was on behalf of DocuPet, the Auditor’s official
dog licensing partner. The company was brought on board in 2023 to provide
residents with a quick and simple online experience for licensing dogs, resulting
in increased pet identification and reunification services for the entire community.
This significant gift was made possible via DocuPet’s Safe&Happy Fund, which
collects automatic donations through designer license tag purchases and direct
donations made by residents.

“Our partnership with DocuPet streamlined services for the Auditor’s Office and is benefitting the
community. We appreciate their desire to donate back to the county’s animal shelter and those residents
that either directly donated online or purchased a designer license,” said Nix. “We anticipate this will be
a yearly event.”

The donation will aid in sheltering, veterinary care, and animal adoption at the shelter, which received
more than 5,000 animals into its care in 2023, including 2,347 dogs.

“We appreciate everyone’s donation to Animal Friends through Docupet, said Poffenbarger. “Being a
non-profit animal shelter, donations like these help us not only keep our programs up and running, but
also help us save lives!”

Donations and volunteers are critical in keeping Animal Friends Humane Society operational. Still, dog
licenses also play an essential role in its work to reunite lost pets with their owners. Dogs with valid license
tags spend little to no time at the shelter, freeing up valuable time, space and resources for local animals
in need and the dedicated staff that serves them.

To celebrate this donation, DocuPet is offering $5 off a regularly priced designer tag for all Butler County
pet owners with promo code AFHS5 at checkout until 06/01/24. During checkout, residents can contribute
to DocuPet’s Safe&Happy Fund, which collects optional donations and was a conduit for the recent
$13,000 donation.

DocuPet is available to residents in Butler County. All dogs are required to hold a valid license. Pet owners
