Nix, 54, was appointed to the position by the Central Committee of the Butler County Republican Party on Thursday, Feb. 2, after winning 72 percent of the vote. She defeated West Chester Township Fiscal Officer Bruce Jones, 127-49.

Despite the appointment, Nix delayed her swearing in ceremony to coordinate with the receipt of the Governor’s commission. The Butler County Prosecutor’s Officadvised Nix she needed the commission before she could assume the duties of Auditor.

“I’ve worked closely with the Auditor’s Office for many years in my role as Treasurer. There is a great staff in place and I’ve devoted time during the past week to get to know more about them,” Nix said. “It’s an honor to have been chosen by the Republican Party to reestablish trust in another county office and I pledge to do my very best.”

Former Auditor Roger Reynolds was convicted of a felony in December and had to vacate the office per the Ohio Revised Code. The County Commissioners selected Joe Statzer on Dec. 29 as interim County Auditor. Statzer served until Nix was sworn in and then returned to his role as the Chief Deputy/HR Director for the Butler County Clerk of Courts.

Replacing Nix as the interim County Treasurer is Lori Sullivan, who served Nix as her Chief Deputy. She will stay on as interim Treasurer until the Central Committee of the Butler County Republican Party selects the permanent replacement. Nix plans to hire Sullivan as her Chief Deputy Auditor.

“My promise to the residents of Butler County is to do the best job I can do, to prioritize honesty, transparency, and outreach." Nix said.
